New in the Media Cloud: Enable Poster Images in the App Builder

We’re excited to introduce a new setting in the App Builder that gives you more control over how your on-demand content is displayed.

With the new Video Image Type setting, you can choose whether media items from a VOD or AOD Channel display standard 16:9 Thumbnails or 2:3 Poster Images, helping you create the viewing experience that best fits your content.

How Does it Work?

In the APP BUILDER, simply select a supported VOD or AOD Channel row and choose 2:3 Poster Images under the new Video Image Type setting.

Save your changes, and the updated image style will be reflected in your app in real time.

Why This Matters

Whether you’re showcasing movies, series, vertical videos, or other on-demand content, the way your content is presented can make a big difference.

With Poster Images enabled, you can:

• Create a taller, gallery-style browsing experience

• Highlight featured content with a more cinematic presentation

• Choose the image style that best fits your app

• Update supported Channel rows directly from the App Builder

Before You Enable Poster Images

To ensure the best viewing experience, make sure each media item in the Channel playlist has its own Poster Image before switching a Channel row to use the 2:3 Poster Image display.

If a Poster Image isn’t available for a media item, a placeholder image may appear instead.

The Video Image Type setting is available only when the app framework supports Poster Images and the Channel is configured to display individual media items rather than Sub-Channels or Media Groups. If your app requires an update to support Poster Images, the App Builder will provide instructions for contacting Customer Support.
